Terms · last updated 17 October 2026

What you get, what it costs, and what we owe you.

These terms

These terms cover klapp, run by Cadence AS, organisation number 912 024 652, registered in the Norwegian Register of Business Enterprises (Foretaksregisteret). They apply when you use the service. When you buy something, you accept them at the button you pay with.

They are written to be read. Where a clause costs you something, it says so.

What changed on 11 October 2026. There is now a subscription, in three tiers: Lærer (Teacher), Team and Bedrift (Business). It is described below, together with a pack of 100 questions that you buy once. Free is now a trial of 50 questions per account, and the Friday quiz is free without a limit. The event package is sold until the subscription opens. An event package works for the event it was bought for, also after the subscription has opened, on the terms that applied when you bought it.

Corrected later on 11 October 2026. This page said that the event package is no longer sold. That was wrong. It is sold until the subscription opens, and the paragraph about it has been rewritten. The paragraph about the pack of 100 questions now also says how the questions are drawn and how you withdraw.

Corrected again on 11 October 2026. This page said that a subscription only gets a receipt from Stripe. Stripe’s receipt has no withdrawal form. A subscription bought in Norway now also gets a confirmation from us when it starts, with the right to withdraw and the form.

Changed on 11 October 2026, after a read-through against the law. Six things are added or corrected. You can also cancel the subscription by writing to us. If you have paid for a year and want out before the year is over, this page now says what you are entitled to. The price table shows what the yearly price comes to per month. The paragraph about the card says that the subscription takes the card in a checkout of its own. “Changes” says how we may change the service while you subscribe. And the withdrawal form now also stands at the bottom of this page. The read-through was done by an AI, not by a lawyer.

Changed on 12 October 2026. If you are signed in, the rounds you make are saved on your account until you delete them. Before, this page said that the questions are always deleted with the game. That still holds when you are not signed in.

Corrected on 13 October 2026. This page said that a new version of the service ends the games that are running. Since 8 October 2026 a quiz that is running is saved and normally goes on after a restart. The paragraph under “What we promise, and what we do not” has been rewritten.

Changed on 13 October 2026. A subscription bought in Norway is no longer paid on Stripe’s checkout page. You now type the card in Stripe’s card fields on our own page, and the button you press is ours. It says “Order with obligation to pay”, and the price and the renewal stand right above it. Outside Norway you still buy in Stripe’s checkout, where Link is the seller.

Changed on 13 October 2026. The event package is still sold, also after the subscription has opened. With Team or Bedrift you get what the package gives without buying it.

Changed on 14 October 2026. Outside Norway you can now also buy Q&A and the event package through Link, at the prices under “Buying from outside Norway”. Before, that section named only the subscription and the pack of 100 questions.

Changed on 15 October 2026. An event can now have several sessions, each with its own Q&A. Q&A is paid per session, and you can pay for all the sessions of an event at once. If none of them is opened, you get it all back; if some are, a session that was not used is not refunded on its own. Before, this page said that Q&A is paid once per event. The refund part is replaced by the change of 15 October 2026.

Changed on 15 October 2026. An organiser that is a business can now take registrations for an event at klapp. Two new sections say what applies to someone who registers and to the organiser. It is free.

Changed on 15 October 2026. You can get the whole amount back for a Q&A, several sessions at once or the event package, right up until five or more people have taken part in the same round or the same Q&A of the event, without giving a reason. Before, this page said that you got the money back only when the Q&A was never opened, or when you withdrew as a consumer.

Changed on 17 October 2026. In a room with children, a file can now be used when you confirm that it is teaching material with no personal data. “What you upload has to be yours to share” below says what you confirm.

This page is also available in Norwegian: Vilkår på norsk.

What the service is

klapp runs live quizzes and audience questions in a room. A host starts, the room joins with a code on their own phones, and everyone plays or asks on the same screen.

  • The Friday quiz. Questions about the week's news, the same for everyone, new every week. Free and without a limit, with no account.
  • Polls. The room answers on their phones, and the spread shows on the screen. Free.
  • Your own quizzes. The host types a topic or hands over a document, reads the generated questions, and plays them with the room. Each question counts against the trial, the pack or the subscription.
  • An event. One code for a whole talk or evening, with a running order and the host's phone as the remote control. Free, for a host who signs in.
  • Registration. An organiser that is a business can take registrations for an event on the event's own page at klapp. Free.
  • Q&A. The room asks questions, and a model drafts an answer suggestion to each one from the host's own material. Only the host sees the suggestion and decides what reaches the screen. Ten answers per event are free. More is paid per session, or included in Bedrift.
  • The subscription. Three tiers, with a number of your own questions each month. Paid monthly or yearly until you cancel.

We also sell ready-made quizzes in our shop on Etsy. They are covered further down.

Accounts

Players and audience members never have an account. They do not sign in, they do not pay, and we hold no list of who has played or asked. That holds for the whole service, the subscription included. Someone who registers for an event has no account either. They sign in with a link sent by e-mail to see their ticket, and the organiser gets the list of who registered.

A host can play the Friday quiz and the demo, and use 10 trial questions, without signing in. Everything else needs a signed-in host. The subscription, the packs and paid Q&A also need a payment card.

Signing in is with a Google or Microsoft account. We never see a password. You are responsible for what happens under your sign-in, and for keeping it to yourself. You have to be 18 or over to sign in as a host and to buy. For registration, the organiser's age limit applies; see below.

You can remove your card or delete your account in the host portal at any time. A running subscription is cancelled as described below. Privacy says what deleting removes and what stays in the payment records.

What it costs

Cadence AS is not registered for VAT, so no VAT is added to these prices. When it registers, the prices will include Norwegian VAT, and this page and /pricing will say so from that date. For now we sell directly only to buyers in Norway: the card must be issued in Norway and have a Norwegian billing address. Outside Norway, the subscription and the pack are sold through Link once that sale opens. See “Buying from outside Norway” below.

The trial is never refilled. You get 50 trial questions per account, in total and not per month. Without signing in it is 10. When they are used, you buy the pack or subscribe. The Friday quiz, polls and the demo work as before.

The pack is 100 questions for your own quizzes, for 99 kr. It is a one-off purchase. The amount is charged to your card once, when you buy it, and never again. The questions belong to the account you were signed in with when you bought it. They never expire. If you buy more packs, the questions add up.

How the questions are drawn. The pack is used once the trial is used up, or once the month's questions are used if you subscribe. A round draws as many questions as you order. If the round turns out shorter, you get the rest back. A question that failed is not counted. The Friday quiz, polls and the ready-made sets never draw from the pack. The pack also works when the limit on the free part of the service has been reached.

An answer is one question from the room that the model drafts an answer suggestion for. When the answers run out, the room can still ask. The host just stops getting suggestions unless they add more. Q&A is paid per session also for a host who subscribes to Lærer or Team.

Playing is free, always, with as many people as want to join. Room size is never priced. The only ceiling on a room is a technical flood guard, sized far above any real room and never raised by paying.

The free part has limits, and they are on generating, not on playing. Generating questions costs us money, which is why the trial is 50. There is also a limit on what the free part of the service may cost us in total in a month. The 10 free Q&A answers count towards it. When the limit is reached, free hosts can still play the Friday quiz and the demo. The current numbers are on /pricing and /free.

The event package costs 249 kr and covers one event. The running order can hold up to three quizzes, where a free event holds one, and you get the Christmas-party quiz and the other ready-made sets in that event. It is paid once and charged to your card when you buy it. Team and Bedrift give the same in all your events, and you then do not buy the package.

The subscription contains what stands here on the day you start. What we may add later is not part of what you pay for until it stands on this page.

The allowance is counted in questions, not rounds, and starts again each month. You have the full number in a new month, also in the month you start. A question counts when it has been delivered to you. One that failed does not count. Questions you did not use in a month are not carried over to the next month and are not refunded. A yearly subscription has the same number each month, twelve times. It does not give the year's questions at once.

When the month's questions are used, nothing more is charged. There is no automatic top-up. Unless you have questions left from a pack, you cannot make more of your own questions until the next month begins. The Friday quiz and polls work as before. The subscription price is the most the subscription can cost you in a period.

Q&A in Bedrift covers two events a month with up to 200 answers each, with no extra charge. If you need more events or more answers, you pay for them per session as usual.

In Norway you order on our own page, with a button that says “Order with obligation to pay”, and the first period is charged at once. Stripe takes the card in its own fields on that page. Outside Norway you buy in Stripe Checkout. The subscription renews automatically at the start of each period, every month or every year, on the same card, until you cancel. The card is then charged the whole price for the new period. There is no free trial period that asks for a card. What is free is the trial.

You change tier in the customer portal (Account, then "Manage subscription"). Moving up, to a higher tier or from monthly to yearly, takes effect at once. The price is prorated: the unused part of the period you have paid for is deducted, and the difference is charged now. Moving down, to a lower tier or from yearly to monthly, takes effect from the next period.

You cancel in the customer portal, with one click, at any time. You do not have to give a reason or call anyone. You can also cancel by writing to hello@playklapp.com. The subscription runs to the end of the period you have paid for, and nothing more is charged. For a monthly subscription, cancelling gives no money back for the rest of the month.

If you have paid for a year and want out before the year is over, write to hello@playklapp.com. If you are a consumer, section 31 of the Norwegian Digital Services Act (digitalytelsesloven) lets you cancel the part of the year that has not been delivered. You then get back what you paid for that part, minus what the cancellation costs us. The right to withdraw and the refund when we let you down, below, come on top of all this.

If the charge for a new period fails, for example because the card has expired, Stripe tries the card again for up to two weeks and sends you an e-mail. Your tier applies meanwhile, but for at most 14 days from the start of the period. If no attempt succeeds, the subscription ends and the account becomes free.

Paying, and getting your money back

You add a card on a page run by Stripe. We never see or store the card number. The card lives with Stripe. By saving it you allow Cadence AS to charge it when you press a buy button in klapp while signed in, at the prices above: a Q&A size, 100 more answers, the pack of 100 questions, the event package, and the subscription. Nothing else is charged on a schedule or without that press. The same wording stands at the button on Stripe's page. You start the subscription in a checkout of its own, where you can give a different card. In Norway that checkout is on our page, with Stripe’s card fields; outside Norway it is Stripe’s. The card you use there is charged when you start and at each renewal until you cancel. The text above the button in that checkout says the same.

For Q&A you pay when you get the event ready, not on stage. You choose the Q&A size and pay while you prepare. Opening Q&A to the room charges nothing. 100 more answers are charged the moment you add them.

If the event has several sessions with Q&A, you can pay for all of them at once. The amount is the price of the size you choose times the number of sessions, and each session gets that number of answers. 100 more answers are bought per session. A session you add after paying is paid for on its own.

If the Q&A is never opened to the room, you get the money back automatically. You do not have to ask. The refund is sent when the event ends or expires, normally within about a day and a half of the payment. How soon it shows on your card is up to your bank.

If you paid for several sessions at once and none of them was opened to the room, you get the whole amount back automatically when the event ends. If some of them were opened, you can ask for the whole amount back under the rule below, as long as fewer than five have taken part in the same round or the same Q&A.

You get the whole amount back until five or more people have taken part in the same round or the same Q&A. If you paid for a Q&A, for several sessions at once or for the event package and have changed your mind, write to hello@playklapp.com before that has happened. We refund the whole amount, to the same card, within 14 days of your message. You do not have to give a reason, and this applies to you too if you buy for a business. In a round, those who have answered at least one question count, not those who only stood in the lobby. In a Q&A, those who have sent in or voted on a question count. It is the highest number in one round or one session that counts, not the sum over the event. What decides it is what we see on our side for the event, not the date you have set. What has been refunded cannot be used for the event.

If we let you down, you get the money back. If a Q&A, a pack or a subscription you paid for could not be used as described because the service failed, or because a new version of the service cut the event off, write to hello@playklapp.com. We refund the purchase, to the same card, within 14 days of your message. For a subscription we refund the part of the period in which it did not work. We make the refund ourselves in Stripe.

What is not refunded: the event package and Q&A once five or more have taken part in the same round or the same Q&A. 100 more answers, once added. Questions you have used from the pack of 100. And the rest of a subscription period after you have cancelled, apart from what is said above about a yearly subscription. The right to withdraw below comes on top of this, and so does every right the law gives a consumer when a service is not as agreed.

If the last payment is refunded in full, or you dispute the payment with your bank and it is reversed, your tier lapses and the account becomes free.

If you buy as a consumer, you have 14 days to withdraw. The 14 days run from the day you pay. For the subscription they run from the first payment. A renewal continues the same agreement and does not start another 14 days. To withdraw, write to hello@playklapp.com and say which purchase it is. A withdrawal form comes with the confirmation. We pay back within 14 days, to the same card.

Because you want the service at once, you are asked before you pay to tick that we should start delivering now, and that you know the right to withdraw ends when the service or the content has been fully delivered. For Q&A it is fully delivered when the event has ended. If you withdraw before that, you pay for the part that has been delivered: the share of the answers that was used. The tick you make when you get a Q&A ready also covers 100 more answers you buy during that event, so you are not asked again in front of the room. For the pack you tick that the right to withdraw ends for each question made for you, because it has then been fully delivered. If you withdraw within 14 days, you get back the price of the questions you have not used, 0.99 kr per question. After 14 days the pack cannot be withdrawn from, but the questions left stay on your account. For the event package it is fully delivered when the event has ended. For the subscription, a period is not fully delivered within the 14 days, so you can withdraw throughout. You then get back what you paid, minus the share of the period that has passed on the day you withdraw, and the subscription stops that day.

You get a confirmation by e-mail for every payment, renewals included, sent to the address of the account you signed in with. For the subscription, each payment gets a receipt from Stripe. When the subscription starts, you also get a confirmation from us with what you bought, the price, the next charge, how to cancel, how to withdraw and a withdrawal form. For Q&A and the pack, the confirmation shows a number and the date, Cadence AS with its organisation number and address, what you bought and, for Q&A, for which event, the amount, that you asked for delivery to start, and how to withdraw. A refund gives a credit note the same way.

If you buy for a business, tick that at the button and give its organisation number, which then stands on the confirmation. A customer that is a business has no right to withdraw. The confirmation is an e-mail with a PDF: we do not issue invoices in EHF or Peppol format. From 1 January 2027 we therefore cannot sell to a business that is registered to receive e-invoices through Peppol. The button tells you before anything is charged.

The seller is Cadence AS. Payment goes through Stripe.

And the price is shown before you make anything, never after. You will not spend two hours building something and then meet a paywall.

Buying from outside Norway

If you live outside Norway, you buy the subscription, the pack of 100 questions, Q&A and the event package through Link, the merchant of record from Stripe. This applies from the day the country list is on /pricing, and only in the countries listed there. In other countries klapp can’t be bought yet.

Link is the seller to you. Link takes the payment, charges the VAT or sales tax where you live, sends the receipt, and handles refunds and the right of withdrawal for the purchase itself. The terms of the purchase are Link’s, and they are shown at checkout before you pay. Cadence AS is still responsible for the service being as this page describes it. If you ask us for a refund under the rules above, we ask Link to make it, and Link is the one who sends the money to your card.

The prices include tax. Teacher is 7 a month or 79 a year, Team 17 or 189, and Business 55 or 619. The pack of 100 questions is 9, once. Q&A is 12 for 100 answers per session, 21 for 200 and 39 for 400, and 100 more answers are 10. The event package is 29, once per event. The numbers are in US dollars, and in euros in the euro area. If you pay in another currency, Stripe converts it at checkout.

You get the same as in Norway. The same tiers, the same number of questions a month, and the same rules for renewal, changing tier and cancelling as above. Cancelling takes effect at the end of the period you have paid for.

Q&A is paid per session and the event package once, in Link’s checkout, and never charged to a saved card. What they give, and when a Q&A is refunded because it was never opened to the room, is the same as in Norway, and so is the refund until five or more have taken part in the same round or the same Q&A.

You cancel, change tier and change card at Link. Go to Account and press “Manage subscription” to get there. Your receipts are there too.

If Link or we refund the payment, or your bank reverses it, the tier ends at once and the account is free.

Questions about the service go to hello@playklapp.com. Questions about the payment go to Link.

Registering for an event

The organiser runs the event and decides who gets a place, the programme, changes and cancellation. klapp is only the service the registration runs on. Cadence AS is not a party to the agreement between you and the organiser.

Registering is free. Register with your own name and your own e-mail address.

You get your ticket by e-mail. You can cancel your registration yourself, with a new sign-in link, until the event is over.

The organiser sets the age limit, and the default is 18. If you are under 18 and the organiser allows it, you tick a box saying that your parents know you have registered.

Questions about the event go to the organiser. Questions about the service go to hello@playklapp.com. What is kept is on privacy.

Taking registrations as an organiser

Only a business with an organisation number can take registrations. You give the business's name, organisation number, address and e-mail address, and they stand on the registration page, so the people who register can see who they are registering with.

Taking registrations is free.

You are the controller for the people who register. The data processing terms are part of these terms, and you accept them on the business's behalf when you open registration.

You must not use registration where taking part in the event in itself reveals health, religious belief, trade union membership or other data under Article 9 of the GDPR, unless you have a basis for it.

You are responsible for the age limit suiting the event.

You answer the people who register about the event. klapp does not send e-mail from you to everyone who registered. The list is yours, and what you send to the people on it yourself is your responsibility. If you cancel the event, klapp tells the people who registered.

If registration is used to send e-mail to people who did not ask for it, or for other misuse, we can close it. Where we can, we say why.

Ready-made quizzes bought on Etsy

Cadence AS sells ready-made quizzes in the shop playklapp on Etsy. What you buy there is a PDF with a link and a QR code to a quiz that is played at playklapp.com.

The purchase is made on Etsy. Etsy takes the payment, in the currency and with the taxes Etsy shows you, and Etsy's own terms apply to the checkout. The seller is Cadence AS. Because the file is delivered at once, the purchase cannot be returned once you have downloaded it, where Etsy's checkout has had you agree to that. If something is wrong with the quiz, write to the shop on Etsy. We fix it or refund you. Nothing here or in a listing takes away a right the consumer law of your country gives you.

Playing it is covered by these terms. The link needs no account and no further payment, and it has no end date. If a quiz you bought stops working within 24 months of your purchase, because we withdrew it or stopped the service, we refund what you paid for it.

The content, and who owns what

What you write is yours. Topics, prompts, uploaded material, questions you edited, the company name you put on the screen: yours, and we claim nothing in them.

What you upload has to be yours to share. Before a file, pasted text or Q&A material is used, you confirm that you have the right to share it and that it holds no personal data about other people. In a room with children, a file is used only when you also confirm that it is teaching material, such as pages from a textbook or test instructions, with no names, pictures of people or other personal data.

Generated question sets are yours to use. We generate them for you. If you are signed in, your rounds are saved on your account until you delete them; otherwise they are deleted with the game. The quizzes you put in the running order of an event are saved with that event, for you, until the event is deleted (privacy says when). What we save, we save for you. We use none of it for anything else, and we do not reuse it.

We may not have exclusive rights to give. Generated text is produced by a model from a prompt, and two people who ask for the same topic can get similar questions. The Friday quiz is written from the week's news and is the same for many rooms. If you need content that nobody else can be given, write it yourself.

The ready-made quizzes. When you buy one on Etsy, or open a ready-made set through Team or Bedrift, you may play it with your own room, at home or at work, as often as you like. You may not resell it, share the link or the file with people outside your own room, or publish the questions.

Generated text can be wrong, and here is what we do about it

This is the honest limit of the service, and it is the first thing we would want to know if we were you.

Questions are generated. A generated question can be factually wrong, and a wrong question in front of a room is a public wrong question.

What we do: generate before the game rather than during it, so a bad question can be discarded before anyone sees it. Prefer question forms where correctness is structural. And give the room a way to flag a question, so that a wrong one is cancelled and stakes are returned.

The same goes for Q&A. An answer suggestion is a draft made from your own material, shown to you with the passage it was drawn from. It can still be wrong or miss the point. Nothing reaches the screen until you put it there.

What we do not do is promise accuracy. Do not use klapp where a wrong answer has consequences beyond the game: not for assessment, not for grading, not for anything a decision rests on. The host is the last check before anything reaches a room.

Using it decently

Do not use klapp to harass anyone, to publish other people's personal data, to break the law, to flood or attack a room you were not invited to, or to resell the service as your own.

Rooms are open by design, because joining with a code in two seconds is the point. That means a code shared publicly can be joined by strangers, also after the game has started. The host can lock the room at any time.

We may suspend an account that is being used to do harm. Where we can, we will say why.

What we promise, and what we do not

We work to keep the service running and will tell you when it is not.

We do not promise it will be available at a particular moment. A live game depends on a network we do not control, and rooms have bad wifi. There is no uptime commitment, and a paid event or a subscription does not carry one either. What they carry is the refund above when the failure was ours.

A new version of the service restarts the server. A quiz that is running is saved, and is normally picked up again when the server is back: the screens ask everyone to wait, and the players keep their names and scores. We do not promise that every game survives a restart. A saved event, its code and its running order are kept and are there when you come back. A quiz that was running inside an event is picked up again in the same way. A Q&A or a poll that was running has to be started again.

If you are a consumer, your rights when the service is late or not as agreed are the ones the law gives you, and nothing here reduces them.

If you use klapp in a business, the service is provided as it is. Our liability is limited to the amount you paid for the event, or for the subscription period, that the claim concerns, and we are not liable for indirect loss. This does not limit liability for intent or gross negligence.

If you run a Q&A for an organisation, the data processing terms are part of these terms. They cover the material you upload and the questions your audience sends: for those your organisation is the controller and Cadence AS is its processor. When you buy a Q&A for an organisation, or use Q&A in Bedrift, you accept them on its behalf.

Ending it

You can stop at any time. A subscription you cancel with one click in the customer portal, as described above. Nothing else has to be cancelled. We can end an account for a serious or repeated breach of these terms, or if we stop running the service. If we stop running it, we will give notice and refund what you paid for and have not been able to use, the rest of a subscription period included.

Changes

We date changes and say what changed. If a change matters to you, we tell you before it takes effect. We do not rewrite this page quietly.

Changes to the service while you subscribe. We may change the service in a running subscription when that is needed to fix faults, keep it secure or follow the law, when a provider we build on changes its service, and to make it better. Such a change costs you nothing, and we tell you about it clearly. If the service gets worse for you in a way that is not insignificant, for example fewer questions a month, we tell you by e-mail in reasonable time before. If you are a consumer, you can then end the agreement within 30 days and get back what you paid for the time that is left. This follows from sections 41 and 42 of the Norwegian Digital Services Act.

Law

These terms are governed by Norwegian law. If you are a consumer, this does not remove rights your own country gives you, and you can bring a case in the court where you live. Between businesses, disputes are heard in the courts of Bergen, Norway.

Complaints. Write to us first. If you are a consumer and we do not agree, you can take the case to the Norwegian Consumer Authority, Forbrukertilsynet, which mediates free of charge: forbrukertilsynet.no. If you live in another EEA country, the European Consumer Centre in your country can help.
