Written 20 September 2026 · a default, not a feature

Answering fast earns nothing.

And no, we are not the only ones who can do that.

Kahoot can switch speed points off. Wayground can switch its timer off. If you came here looking for the only tool that does this, the honest answer is on this page, and it is not that answer.

No speed bonus · No mode to choose

First, what the competition can already do

Kahoot has a mode without speed points, and it says so on its own help pages. In Classic mode, points fall as the timer counts down, so a faster correct answer scores more. In its Accuracy mode each correct answer is worth one point with no speed bonus, and in a live Accuracy game the host can switch on Unlimited time so players take as long as they need. For assigned kahoots the timer can be turned off entirely. Read on Kahoot's Accuracy pages and its live game settings, 19 September 2026. Kahoot's settings page says some settings depend on the subscription, and we could not tell from those pages which plans include Accuracy mode.

Wayground can run without a timer too, and which timer options a host gets is tied to the plan — read on Wayground's own pages, 19 September 2026, and written up on klapp and Wayground compared.

So «no points for speed» is not a feature only we have. Anyone telling you otherwise has not read the help pages. What is left after that sentence is a smaller claim, and it is the one this page makes.

The difference is the default

In klapp there are no speed points at all, in every game, and no mode to pick. Nothing has to be found in a settings panel, nothing depends on a subscription, and no host can accidentally leave the speed bonus on. A correct answer is a correct answer whether it arrives in two seconds or in nineteen.

There is still a clock, and pretending otherwise would be the easy lie here. By default a 20-second countdown runs, because it is what makes the moment tighten. The host can hide it on the phones and on the big screen, but hiding it does not stop it — the answer window still closes on time. While answers are open the host can give the room 10 more seconds, and again if that is not enough.

And the clock can be switched off. Wait for everyone, added 19 September 2026, is a switch the host can turn on in any game: no countdown on any screen, and answers close when every connected player has answered or when the host closes them. It takes effect from the next question.

A setting you have to know about is not the same product as a default. That is the entire difference, stated without inflating it: Kahoot lets a host who knows where to look remove the speed bonus; here there is nothing to remove. For a classroom, the same ground is covered on klapp for teachers.

01 / klapp

No mode

No speed points in any game. A 20-second clock by default, which the host can hide, extend by 10 seconds at a time, or switch off with wait for everyone. As the product stood on 20 September 2026.

02 / Kahoot

A mode to choose

Classic scores by speed; Accuracy gives one point per correct answer with no speed bonus, and live Accuracy games can use Unlimited time. Assigned kahoots can drop the timer. Read 19 September 2026.

03 / Wayground

A setting per plan

The timer can be turned off, and which timer options a host gets depends on the plan. Read 19 September 2026. Details and sources on the Wayground comparison.

Why this page exists, and it is not search volume

Nobody searches for this, as far as we can measure. In Bing Webmaster Tools' keyword research for the three months 20 June – 17 September 2026, quiz no timer had too little data to show a figure at all. Read 20 September 2026. This page is a hypothesis about a question being asked, not a response to a measured demand, and if it never gets a visitor that hypothesis was wrong.

What we did measure is who answers the question today. On 18 September 2026 we asked Perplexity and ChatGPT, anonymously, three runs each in new conversations: Is there a Kahoot alternative without points for answering fast? In 9 of 9 answers the reply was a setting inside an existing tool — Kahoot's Accuracy mode, Wayground without a timer — and never a product where it is simply how the game works. Our own measurement, and the baseline we will repeat with the same questions and the same engines.

That gap is the reason for the page, and it is also the honest limit of it. A question with no clean answer is worth answering plainly. It is not evidence that anyone is looking.

What this page does not claim

Not that we are the only ones. The first section of this page exists to say the opposite, with links to the help pages it was read from.

Not that the clock is gone. There is a clock. It gives no points, it can be hidden, it can be extended, and it can be switched off — four separate sentences, and none of them is «there is no timer».

Not that time pressure is the most common complaint about this format. We wrote that once and it was wrong. The review most often cited here — Wang and Tahir, 2020 — finds that the problems mentioned in the most articles are technical ones such as unreliable internet, and its headline finding on anxiety is positive rather than negative. Its first author is a co-founder of Kahoot, which is worth knowing in both directions. The literature, the correction and the sources are on why klapp gives no points for speed.

Where this page ends and that one begins: the research page reports what the literature says. This page says what is default in which tool, with the date each vendor's page was read. If the two ever say the same thing in the same words, this one should be deleted.

Questions

Can Kahoot turn off points for speed? Yes. Accuracy mode gives one point per correct answer and no speed bonus; Classic mode still rewards speed. Read 19 September 2026.

Does klapp have a timer? Yes, 20 seconds by default. It awards no points, and the host can hide it, add 10 seconds at a time, or turn it off with wait for everyone.

Then what is actually different? There is no mode. Speed points do not exist in any game here, so no host has to know a setting to avoid them.

How current is this page? Checked on 20 September 2026. The vendor pages behind it are re-read weekly, and a change is written here with its date.

Right is right. Fast is not extra.
