For parties · dinner table, pub, living room

You already have everything.

A phone each is the whole setup.

No box to find, no cards to shuffle, no app for anyone to download. One person opens the game, types what the evening is about, and the table plays from the phones already sitting next to the plates.

What the table already has

A dinner table, a pub booth and a living room all have the same three things: people, phones, and someone willing to run the round. That is the entire equipment list. There is no box in a cupboard, no set of cards worn soft from last year, and nothing to charge before people arrive.

One person opens /host on a laptop or a phone of their own and types a topic — the neighbourhood, the year someone was born, whatever the table is already talking about. A round is ready in a minute or two, which is shorter than it takes to clear the plates.

Everyone else opens /join or the six-digit address read out loud, and they are in without typing an e-mail or making an account. Read more about how a round actually plays out on the quiz page.

No equipment

Nothing physical exists for this game. There is no board, no dice and no deck to lose a card out of.

No cards

No stack to print, laminate or keep in order. The questions are written fresh, so there is nothing to shuffle.

No prep

No questions to write. The host types a topic at the table, and that is the whole preparation.

No drinking required

This is not a drinking game and needs no alcohol to work. It plays the same at a family dinner as at a pub table.

Said plainly: two honest limits

Everyone needs their own phone. A single shared screen is not enough to play — answers come in by swiping, so a table sharing one device will have people waiting their turn instead of playing at once.

Nothing is saved. The round lives only for as long as the game is open. Once it ends there is no set to reopen next weekend — typing the same topic again writes a different round, not the same one.

What it costs

Nothing, for a round you make yourself. Hosting and playing a quiz have no price, no card to enter and no account to make. Eight people at a table is not different, by design, from a much larger room.

If you would rather not make the round, ready-made quizzes of 30 questions for Halloween, Christmas, New Year’s Eve and birthdays are 9.99 USD on Etsy. Each one is checked and read before it goes on sale, and plays here like a round you made. Everything with a price is on pricing.

Type a topic. Wake the table.
